Erbium Laser at a Glance

Erbium laser is a solid-state laser. When the light energy from an Erbium laser hits the skin, it's absorbed by water inside a skin cell, vaporising it and destroying the cell. The heat generated impacts the area surrounding the target cells, causing shrinkage or tightening of the existing collagen strands, and supporting the formation of new collagen.

Erbium laser is quite versatile and can be used to treat both large and very small areas. The high level of precision that makes it so effective at treating small areas also enables it to be used for skin imperfections such as post-blemish scars, dark spots, sun damaged skin, uneven skin tone and skin texture, along with other issues.

What to Know About Erbium Laser

Like other treatments that generate high levels of heat in the skin, Erbium laser might not be appropriate for some darker skin types because of the risk of causing unwanted pigmentation. Similarly, an Erbium laser may not be the best choice for treating dark circles around the eyes.

As always, before proceeding with Erbium laser skin resurfacing it’s important to discuss all available treatments and possible side effects with a healthcare professional.

ALWAYS READ THE LABEL AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS FOR USE.

Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before sun exposure. Sunscreen is only one part of sun protection so wear protective clothing and seek shade. Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Reapply every 2 hours and after swimming, towelling, and perspiring, in accordance with directions.
