What are Tri-Peptides?

Peptides are compounds consisting of two or more linked amino acids (the basic building blocks of proteins). Sometimes they have an active function of their own, but often they're non-functional fragments of a much larger protein. Whether one is called a dipeptide (two), tripeptide (three), etc. is determined by the number of amino acids making up that peptide. Because they're smaller than the full-sized protein, peptides in topical skincare formulations are often more easily absorbed into the skin, where they can be used as components to build the functional protein. Some, such as those involved in collagen synthesis, have been shown to help provide anti-ageing benefits.
