Article Overview
- An easy, portable full-face diagnostic designed to reveal underlying skin concerns before they rise to the surface.
SKINSCOPE LED EXPLAINED
While some skin conditions are visible in everyday light, some are only visible under UV light which highlights sub-surface skin damage.
The Skinscope LED is designed to help assess customers skin through the use of two light modes: a simulated daylight mode for reviewing visible concerns, and a LED-UV light mode for identifying underlying damage.
The benefits are clear:
- Enhances diagnosis and treatment recommendations
- Encourages follow-up engagement through smartphone photography
- Helps track progress
- Increases service and retail sales
SKINSCOPE LED DIAGNOSTIC
DAYLIGHT MODE
Allows for the clear illumination of visible skin concerns, including:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Uneven skin tone
- Redness, blotchiness, flushing
- Oily, acne-prone skin
LED-UV MODE
LED-UV light detects fluorescence in skin for clearer identification of skin concerns and conditions not visible in everyday light. While healthy skin reflects back UV light creating a blue glow, the existence of unwanted pigmentation, poor desquamation, dehydration, congested pores, and skin oiliness is reflected in a variety of fluorescent shades.
- Pale Blue: Normal and healthy skin
- White: Dead skin cells
- Dark Blue: Thinner, dehydrated skin
- Brown: Pigmentation and dark spots
- Yellow: Oily areas of the face
- Dark Pink or Orange: Congested pores and comedones*
*Yellow, orange, or dark pink will often show as small dots (or pinpricks of light) on the face
HOW DOES BODY CONTOURING WORK?
Skin-tightening treatments send energy deep into the skin to help stimulate the body’s natural production of new collagen. These body contouring treatments generally use ultrasound or radiofrequency to gradually improve the skin’s tautness and texture after several sessions.
Non-invasive fat reduction permanently destroys fat cells in the treated area. The cellular debris is then naturally eliminated from the body over the weeks following each session. Cold (cryolipolysis) is the most popular treatment for non-invasive fat reduction and freezes unwanted fat cells. Ultrasound, radiofrequency, and laser-based energy, may also be options. All of these energies target fat that lies beneath the skin and leave the skin’s surface unaffected. It’s important to keep in mind that fat-reducing body contouring is not meant to be used as a weight-loss tool. Rather, these treatments help reduce stubborn fat that remains despite a healthy lifestyle.
WHAT WILL I EXPERIENCE DURING BODY CONTOURING?
The sensation you feel during body contouring depends on the specific energy used. Since skin-tightening treatments rely on or generate heat, you are likely to feel warmth, which can range from mild to intense. In some cases, patients are given medication prior to skin-tightening treatments to optimize their comfort. Fat-reducing body contouring treatments that freeze fat cells initially cause a sensation of cold, but the skin usually becomes numb shortly after the procedure begins. When ultrasound or radiofrequency are used for fat reduction, patients report feeling mild to moderate warmth.
Body contouring treatments usually take about an hour, but they can be shorter or longer depending on the size of the area being treated. Although non-invasive body contouring treatments are generally downtime-free, it’s possible to experience temporary mild redness, swelling, or soreness.
WHEN SHOULD I GET BODY CONTOURING?
Body contouring treatments can be performed anytime, however there are a few factors to consider. Skin-tightening treatments are most effective for mild to moderate skin laxity, so early intervention can help prevent further sagging and loss of elasticity. Many patients opt to undergo fat-reducing body contouring treatments when their diet and exercise efforts plateau. When considering any type of non-invasive body contouring, it’s best to be at a stable weight and commit to maintaining that weight in order to preserve the final results. Speak with your skincare professional to find out what body contouring treatment would be best for your specific skin concerns.
