Dipotassium glycyrrhizate (better known to us lesser mortals as liquorice root extract) is used in skincare to help even out skin tone by visibly fading dark spots and prevent new ones from developing. It's also been shown to help preserve the levels of hyaluronic acid content in skin, and has a soothing action.

Liquorice (sometimes spelled licorice) root extract is found in intensely hydrating products such as SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier, a triple action corrective hyaluronic acid serum for the face. This hydrating gel serum combines pure hyaluronic acid with botanical extracts (including liquorice root extract) and Proxylane, to support and hydrate the skin. By both supplementing the natural production of skin’s hyaluronic acid and helping to preserve existing levels, this hydrating serum improves the appearance of firmness and plumpness. It also helps reduce the signs of premature ageing, including crow’s feet, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines.
